2025 April Shower

Tuesday, April 8th, the Daisy Garden Club invites the public to the twenty-ninth annual “April Shower” fundraiser for the Seminole Nation Museum. The come-and-go reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum, located at 524 S. Wewoka Ave. Light refreshments will be served.

The April Shower aids the museum in its mission to help preserve and promote the rich and unique history of Wewoka and the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma by encouraging patrons to donate much-needed supplies and materials to offset operating costs. Gifts of any size can and do make a difference.

New HVAC Units

This year, the museum is also raising funds to replace the four-decades-old HVAC units in the North Wing of the building. These units are no longer cost-effective to run, require constant, expensive maintenance, and have developed an overheating issue, which has created a potential fire hazard.

A grant received from the Oklahoma Historical Society is helping to fund partial replacement of the units, but the museum must raise a cash match of $7,500. The new HVAC systems will be more cost-efficient and provide a safer and more regulated environment in which to preserve and exhibit our artifacts.

Outdoor Learning Pavilion

The other main project for the year is to add electricity to our new outdoor learning space. Last year, the museum was able to complete a 30’x60’ post-frame pavilion alongside Muskogee Avenue, which has provided much-needed activity space for hundreds of youth through museum programming at Sorghum Day, PLAY Day, and many other learning events!

For 2025, we are hoping to raise $4,800 to install electricity, allowing for lighting, sound systems, equipment, and other items to be used when needed. This will make our pavilion a more functional space for educational programming.
