Seminole Nation Museum Executive Director Richard Ellwanger (pictured, right) was recently recognized by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) for his continuing advocacy work in the nation’s capital. Annually in February, AAM brings together over 300 leaders in the museum community to advocate for issues important to the success of America’s over 35,000 museums and cultural institutions. Significant policy topics include continued federal funding for the NEA and NEH, tax reform, education policy, infrastructure legislation, and more. In concert with other state advocates, Ellwanger visits with all of Oklahoma’s seven House and Senate delegations about the needs of the Sooner State’s 500+ museums.
